Moluccas: Private Cycling & Snorkeling Tour
Go on a discovery tour: On your tour of the twin islands of Ternate and Tidore, you will travel by foot, bicycle, minibus, ferry and car. The tour takes you to the Tidore Sultan's Palace, up the slopes of the volcanic mountain Gamalama, to Tolire Lake and to the volcanic rock landscape of Batu Angus. The tour also includes snorkelling in Filonga, Tanjung Cabo and Maitara.
Your fitness level: This tour is versatile. You don't need an above-average fitness level. In any case, you should be able to ride a bike, to climb more than 120 steps and, of course, to swim. And there's nothing else standing in the way of your adventure.

Day 1: Arrival Ternate
- Your driver will be waiting for you after your arrival at the airport in Ternate and will take you to your booked hotel in a 60-minute drive.
- Here you can settle in and slowly arrive. The rest of the day is at your leisure, perhaps you would like to explore the surrounding area of the hotel and let the country and its people take effect on you.

Day 2: Tidore bicycle trip and island tour
- Today we will cycle to the neighbouring island of Tidore.
- The charter boat will take you to Tidore, where your bikes are already prepared for you. As Tidore is much quieter than its twin island Ternate, cycling is usually no problem.
- First on the main road, which is less frequented by cars, and later on smaller side roads, the path leads to a traditional village. Here we have our first break with locals with tea and snacks.
- After a successful refreshment stop, we continue to an iron forge. Here you can watch the craftsmen forge knives and other iron objects in the traditional way, if they are working at the time.
- The tour continues through picturesque villages to Soasio.
- Shortly before you arrive in Soasio, another highlight awaits you: the remains of a Spanish fortress. After the strenuous climb of 120 steps, you will be rewarded with a wonderful view over the island.
- The next points on the tour are a visit to a traditional ikat weaving mill and the Sultan's Palace (which can only be visited when the Sultan is there). But it is also worth seeing from the outside.
- Afterwards, you will dive into the colourful hustle and bustle of a local market, where you will find everything from fish to fruit and vegetables to herbs - certainly also one or two things that were previously unknown to you.
- After visiting the market, we continue by car. At the foot of the volcano, your lunch is already waiting for you, lovingly prepared by the inhabitants of the village.
- Today's excursion to Tidore ends with the car ride back to the other side of the island. The boat will take you back to Ternate, where you will have the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 3: Snorkeling around Tidore
- Today is all about the underwater world, as you head out to sea.
- You will explore the islands and snorkelling areas around Tidore.
- Filonga, Tanjung Cabo and Maitara are the highlights with the most beautiful snorkelling spots.
- Enjoy the impressive underwater world with its diverse corals and colourful fish.
- This excursion is planned as a half-day tour and you will be back at the hotel for lunch (not included). If you would like to enjoy the wonderful underwater world for longer and snorkel at several places, we will be happy to make this possible for you (at an extra charge), picnic included.

Day 4: Ternate island tour
- In the morning you go on a hike in Fora.
- The hike takes you through clove and nutmeg plantations - the Moluccas are also called 'the Spice Islands' - past small villages and beautiful viewpoints overlooking the sea.
- At the end of the hike is Foramadiahi Hill with the tomb of Sultan Babullah. Lunch is either a picnic or back at the hotel, depending on the duration.
- In the afternoon, the tour continues with an excursion around the island.
- The programme includes the highlights of Tolire, a lake surrounded by beautiful forest, and Batu Angus. Here you can see the traces left by the last volcanic eruption of the Gamalama volcano with its cooled lava flows.
- You will also visit some forts and a place where you can still see original clove trees.

Day 5: Ternate departure or onward journey
- After a last early breakfast you will be checking out and transferred to Sultan Babullah airport or one of Ternate’s ports to start your journey home or to extend your adventure.
