Snorkelling & Diving in Indonesia: Delve Beneath the Surface East of the Wallace Line
Diving holidays, snorkelling and swimming like in paradise! Around the islands of East Indonesia is this still possible. Dive in with us!
Hey Adventurer,
A diving holiday in Indonesia, a snorkelling trip, or simply a relaxing beach holiday – for many, this dream starts on Bali, the Gili Islands, or Nusa Penida. These are stunning places, no question. But if you're after that thrilling feeling of having a reef entirely to yourself, travel a little further and discover the island paradise east of the Wallace Line, where Indonesia still breathes the way it always has.
Right there, in the underwater world of Sulawesi, the Moluccas, Raja Ampat, and the Sunda Islands of Komodo, Flores and Alor, lies the beating heart of the Coral Triangle – wild, untouched, and awash in colours you can barely believe are real. Here you sink into silence, glide along reefs no one has fished bare, and share the water with mantas and mola molas instead of other divers. Whether you're a passionate underwater photographer, an experienced diver chasing that one unforgettable moment beneath the surface, or simply looking for a relaxed snorkelling and beach holiday where time stands still: we'll take you to where the sea still tells its own stories, and where you can easily swap diving stories with like-minded travellers at your accommodation – typically a small, family-run, bungalow-style dive resort.
Get in touch. We'll plan your diving and snorkelling trip individually, tailored exactly to you.

Location and amenities:
The Kalimaya Dive Resort is located west of Komodo National Park and the island of Flores, and it is located in the east of the island of Sumbawa. Due to its location, the resort can be quickly reached from Bali, Lombok and Makassar/Sulawesi airports. Developed specifically for divers, environmental protection and sustainability are given high priority. High-quality local materials from neighboring communities were used for construction and the bungalows were built using traditional methods from teak and mahogany. They offer the highest level of comfort and, thanks to their design, blend unobtrusively into the natural surroundings.
The resort offers a breathtaking view of the offshore island of Komodo. A 400 meter long, natural beach invites you to take a walk in the private bay. The resort has 6 detached beach bungalows and 2 hillside bungalows, each with 2 separate living units, ideal for families. All bungalows offer sea views and face east - the perfect location to wake up in the morning to the sunrise over Komodo and Gili Banta - with a direct sea view.
The spacious bungalows are over 30 m² in size and equipped with air conditioning. They have a half-open bathroom with an outdoor shower, a small terrace and, thanks to the large glass door, you have a direct view of the sea from the bed. The furnishings are simple and modern.
Electricity is available 24 hours at the resort.
Occupancy: max. 2 persons
Restaurant:
In the half-open restaurant with sea view, daily changing dishes from Indonesian, Asian and international cuisine are served: in the morning with an à la carte breakfast, at lunch with a 2-course menu and in the evening with a 3-course menu. All meals can be taken at a large communal table. Additional snacks are served in the afternoon. Coffee, tea and water are available all day. For even more variety, there is a barbecue evening once a week with specialties from the region. Two surrounding villages provide the resort with everything it needs, especially fresh ingredients as well as fish, meat and vegetables. Special dietary requests are taken care of by the team in the best possible way.
In front of the restaurant there is a small pool with bar and lounge area, where you can enjoy and end the day with soft drinks (for beer and wine - welcome to bring your own). Large beach beds and comfortable sofas invite you to relax.
Diving:
Kalimaya Dive Resort is a PADI 5-star diving resort. With its unique location right at the gates of the Komodo National Park in the heart of the Coral Triangle, one of the most famous regions of Indonesia with the most biodiverse underwater fauna in the world, the Kalimaya Dive Resort invites to dive at the highest level all year round. You will find here a huge variety of diving spots, which offer a unique diving experience for every underwater enthusiast.
A large, fantastic house reef is located directly in front of the resort, which always leaves space for more discoveries, even after several dives. Other dive spots can be reached by diving boat between 15 and 60 minutes. There are more than 30 dive sites in the region, almost all of which were dived and initially named by the Kalimaya diving center. Coral diving is possible around the resort, where beautiful underwater gardens, vegetated walls, caves and sloping reefs can be admired. Colorful reef fish, turtles and other creatures have their home here between hard and soft corals.
The Komodo National Park and Gili Banta are known for currents that bring lots of nutrients and gigantic schools of fish. Large pelagic fish as well as various reef sharks and ray species are on the agenda here. The area around the volcanic island of Sangean offers excellent opportunities for mud diving/muck diving. Macro fans can also discover extraordinary creatures such as nudibranchs, various species of octopus and frogfish in the sandy reefs.

Indonesia East of the Wallace Line: A Colourful Underwaterworld, that Leaves You Speechless
Imagine gliding above a reef no one has ever described to you before: soft corals sway in the current, hard corals glow in red, purple, and turquoise, as if someone had turned up the ocean's colour palette. A manta ray drifts silently past you, a turtle lets itself be carried by the current, and somewhere in the dark of a wreck a school of fish flickers into view. These are exactly the moments we love East Indonesia's underwater world for – and exactly the moments we're happy to make possible for you. We connect you with the dive resorts on the ground, the ones who know these spots like the back of their hand. Tell us what you dream of when you think of diving in Indonesia, and together we'll find the right spot for your adventure in the Coral Triangle.
