Location and facilities: The Reconnect Resort is located on Buka Buka Island in Central Sulawesi, on the edge of the Togean Islands National Park — one of the few regions of Indonesia that has truly escaped mass tourism to date. The island is entirely self-sufficient: 93% solar-powered, with its own seawater desalination system, completely free of single-use plastic and with local staff and suppliers from the villages of neighbouring islands.

The resort is under the personal management of its French-Indonesian owner couple, who have made Buka Buka Island their home together with their young daughter. In addition to seclusion and unique dive sites, the resort offers the opportunity for personal contact without being intrusive. Those who also wish to explore the world beyond the sea will find the Togean Islands National Park — a diverse natural landscape — right on their doorstep.

While the beautifully designed resort is noticeably geared towards cosiness, relaxation and space for privacy, active guests will nonetheless find a wide range of activities on offer. In addition to diving and snorkelling, kayaks and paddle boats are available, and there is even a volleyball court and an open-air gym. The resort otherwise comprises several accommodation categories, the majority of which are located directly on the beach and are fundamentally designed for 2 persons — full board included. To stay connected with the world, Starlink internet is available throughout the resort. The following accommodation categories are available at the Reconnect Resort:

Beachfront Glamping Tent (6): This close-to-nature and affordable accommodation category is ideal for adventurous travellers who prefer direct contact with their surroundings over comfort. The comfortable tent huts can accommodate up to 3 persons. They are situated directly on the beach, close to the resort restaurant and away from the villas, and offer a small terrace and views of the sunset. They are equipped with a king-size bed and their own bathroom accessible from outside, with a ceiling fan providing a cooling breeze. No frills. But that is precisely the concept here: experiencing nature as up close as possible.

Tropical Pyramid Hut (4): An architecturally distinctive eco-shelter of the latest generation is currently taking shape here — similar to the Glamping Tents, but in the second row from the beach and with unmistakable character. The Pyramid huts are equipped with a ceiling fan, balcony and hot water and can accommodate max. 2 persons.

Sunrise Villa (1) and Sunset Villa (1): These spacious beachfront villas in traditional bungalow style with Indonesian charm each feature a large veranda with direct beach access. They offer views of the sea as well as sunrise and sunset. Equipped with a ceiling fan, king-size bed and hot-water shower, they leave nothing to be desired in terms of cosiness. They accommodate up to max. 4 persons.

Beachfront Villa (4): These villas are fully equipped with air conditioning, a king-size bed, a desk and a small seating area. Outside, a spacious terrace with a clothes rack, seating and a hammock invites you to relax — with unobstructed sea views that are especially beautiful at sunset. The semi-open-air bathroom with hot water adds a tropical character without compromising on comfort. The Beachfront Villas can accommodate up to max. 4 persons.

Maison Coco (1): This cosy bungalow is nestled among palm trees with direct beach views. Positioned slightly apart from the rest, it enjoys a particularly quiet setting. The bungalow can accommodate up to max. 3 persons. It is equipped with a king-size bed, ceiling fan, a semi-open-air bathroom with hot water and a private terrace with sunset views.

Le Cabanon (1): This beachfront bungalow with sea views is designed for families or small groups of up to max. 5 persons. It features two floors with two bedrooms and direct beach access. The main bedroom is located on the lower level, while the open gallery on the upper floor is ideal for children, ensuring a cosy and comfortable island stay just a few steps from the water. Inside, a ceiling fan ensures optimal air circulation, while outside the warm weather can be enjoyed to the full on the inviting bungalow terrace. It is also equipped with a hot shower bathroom.

Villa Athena (1): The exclusive and somewhat secluded Villa Athena stands apart from all other categories with its generous 2-bedroom layout. It is equally suited to honeymoon couples seeking maximum privacy or families requiring space for up to max. 5 persons. Air-conditioned, with a full en-suite bathroom with hot water and a living area that meets the highest standards. Villa Athena is only available during different and varying parts of the year.

Occupancy: max. 2–5 persons depending on category; full private island booking available on request.

Board: Meals are the unifying element of the resort. Three meals a day — breakfast, lunch and dinner — as well as afternoon snacks and all-day coffee, tea and drinking water are included in the price. Fresh Indonesian and international dishes are served, prepared with local ingredients. Vegetarian and vegan diets are available on request.

Diving: Reconnect has its own SSI-certified dive centre, from which all boat excursions to the dive sites around Buka Buka Island depart. The house reef is accessible directly from the beach or jetty. Beginner courses are offered at various levels — from Discover Scuba Diving to Open Water and Advanced. The underwater world of the Togean Islands is exceptionally rich in species: sea turtles, reef sharks, rays, mandarinfish, colourful coral reefs and an almost endless variety of fish species await you in crystal-clear water with visibility of approximately 30 metres.
