Sunda Islands: West Sumbawa Adventure Tour

You can also combine the components of this trip differently and thus shorten it or lengthen it for a more intensive experience at the respective location. We take care of your transfer.

Day 1: Arrival Airport Sumbawa-Besar - Saleh Bay

• 'Selamat datang di Pulau Sumbawa!' - Welcome to Sumbawa Island!.
• Having just arrived at Sumbawa's Sultan Kaharuddin Airport (SWQ) in the morning, your English-speaking tour guide will first welcome you and then start your tour with you straight away.
• First your journey takes you to the nearby Sultan's Palace. This was built in 1815 and is the largest traditional wooden house on Sumbawa. Take enough time to explore this historic site.
• On the way to the next stop of your journey, you will stop for lunch (not included) at a popular restaurant in Sumbawa on the way to the next stop of your journey. You will then continue your journey for another 2 hours and reach your accommodation in the afternoon small local hotel in the south of Saleh Bay, where you will check in in the afternoon.
• You have the rest of the afternoon at leisure.
• Dinner (not included) can be taken at the hotel. Since you will have a very long day ahead of you tomorrow, our tip would be not to let tonight be too long.

Day 2: Saleh Bay - Sumbawa Besar - Moyo Island

• Today you will need to get up VERY early because today is WHALE SHARK day :-)
• At 3:15 am, your guide will pick you up from the hotel and accompany you to the harbor. And at around 4 am, you will go by boat to the spot where the huge sea creatures usually hang out at this time.
• You will have reached your destination just in time for sunrise around 6 am; The whale sharks' playground is now right in front of you. Feel warmly invited to have a truly indescribable and unique experience: dive into the pleasantly temperate water and go swimming and snorkeling with the gentle giants, the whale sharks.

           Please note that whale sharks - although habituated to humans here - are still wild animals and cannot be compared to
           our pets. By keeping a respectful distance while snorkeling and swimming, you can help make this encounter an
           unforgettable experience for you. Enjoys it!

• Following this certainly very touching experience, there will be a light but delicious breakfast, consisting of a variety of bread, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and hot chocolate, on board your boat.
• At around 9 am, you have to set off again and return to the port, which you will reach after a journey of around 2 hours.
• Back at the hotel you have the opportunity to pack your things. and then it's time to check out so you can continue your eventful West Sumbawa adventure tour.
• For lunch (not included) you will stop at a small, authentic restaurant on the way to Sumbawa Besar.
• After that, you can continue because you still have some travel time ahead of you.
• Arriving in Sumbawa Besar in the afternoon, your route will take you directly to the harbor, from where you will begin your journey to Moyo Island. The crossing takes place by speedboat and takes around 45 minutes.
• You then continue a little further by land until you reach your resort hotel later in the afternoon.
• Be ready at around 5:30 pm for the amazing sunset, which you can admire and enjoy from the pool side of the resort along with a cool drink.
• Dinner at the resort hotel (not included).

Day 3: Moyo Island - Sumbawa Besar Seaside

• Today begins for you with a leisurely breakfast before you start your little adventure at around 9:30 am.
• By motorbike, which you don't have to drive yourself, you go for about 30 minutes on an unpaved road through the middle of the forest in the village of Labuan Aji. The ride can be a bit bumpy on some sections of the route.
• Then you go on an easy trek from the parking lot through the forest until you reach a really picturesque cascade waterfall after about 5 minutes. Here you have the opportunity to dive into the crystal clear, turquoise water in the naturally formed pool of this unique waterfall and take a cooling bath while enjoying the lush green of the island's rainforest that surrounds you.
• You will return to the village for lunch (not included).
• Then you go back to the resort hotel, where you have to check out for the next leg of your trip.
• However, before you leave Moyo Island behind you, you will make a stop for snorkeling. On a remote white beach with dense green jungle right next to it, you can dive once again into crystal clear water and marvel at beautiful, colorful corals. Take your time :-)
• You then continue to the harbor and from there to the main island of Sumbawa.
• Once on the other side, your guide will accompany you to your beach front resort hotel with cozy seaside cottages, where you can have dinner (not included) and spend the night.

Day 4: Sumbawa Besar Seaside - Satonda Island - Sumbawa Besar Seaside

• After an early breakfast, your guide will pick you up from the resort hotel at 7 am and your tour begins.
• You will embark on a 2-hour journey through the breathtaking island world of Sumbawa by speedboat. On your journey through this beautiful scenery you will repeatedly come across small fishing boats, whose silhouettes shape the maritime landscape and provide additional variety.
• At the end of this entertaining sea trip you have now reached the remote island of Satonda. To the south of this is Sumbawa and to the north you can see the Bali Sea and the Flores Sea merging.

           The island of Satonda impresses with its picturesque and unique natural scenery. Once an active volcano, now an uninhabited
           island, whose forested slopes enclose a magical little crater lake and open out into a beautiful coral reef on the outside. Let
          yourself be enchanted!

• You enter the island with an easy trekking that takes you directly to the crater lake. Here you have enough time to find the best angle for the ultimate crater lake souvenir photo.
• Afterwards you will have plenty of opportunity to explore the wonderful coral reef that surrounds the island of Satonda. While snorkeling, be impressed by the many colorful corals and fish and, with a bit of luck, you might even see an eagle ray swim past you. And don't forget to enjoy the great view of the Tambora volcanic mountain from above the water!
• After a final look and photo, you head back to Sumbawa.
• Your lunch (not included) awaits you there in your Seaside Cottage.
• Now you deserve a longer break. Use the time to relax until you continue briefly later in the afternoon.
• At around 4:30 p.m. your tour guide will take you to a nearby beach, which, with its enchanting tree backdrop, ensures a truly unique sunset experience. Stay tuned and let yourself be surprised :-)
• You'll be back at your Beach Front Resort Hotel in time for dinner, where you can end the evening in peace.
• Dinner at the resort (not included).

Day 5: Nord-Sumbawa Seaside - West-Sumbawa Poto Tano Village & Islands - Seaside Hotel Resort

• After a good and not too late breakfast, it's time to check out, because your tour guide will pick you up from your Beach Front Resort Hotel at 8 am and take you on the next part of your Sumbawa trip.
• After leaving Sumbawa Besar behind you, you will travel west for about 2 hours.
• Today's destination is an idyllic island landscape just off the northwest coast of Sumbawa, which, with its beautiful beaches and enchanting underwater world, is perfect for swimming and snorkeling (and actually diving too). Your morning will consist mainly of swimming, snorkeling and island hopping, where you will get to know and snorkel three enchanting small islands.
• You will have lunch (not included) at a simple local restaurant or warung along the way before heading back to the main island of Sumbawa.
• Your journey will now take you even further west, because you will spend tonight again in a cozy little seaside hotel resort, where you can relax and linger in the afternoon and have your dinner in the evening.
• Dinner at your seaside hotel (not included).

Day 6: West-Sumbawa: Seaside Hotel Resort - Beach-Feeling - Traditional Mountain Village

• After a leisurely breakfast, it's time to check out again and your tour guide will be ready at 8.30 am to accompany you to the next stop on your journey. Don't pack a jacket or sweater too deeply in your luggage, because you'll need something warm to wear this evening.
• Today you will head south along the enchanting west coast. Here you have the opportunity to take in the extremely varied scenery and gain an even deeper impression of Sumbawa's diverse nature. You will stop at various places and have the opportunity to get to know some of the most beautiful bays on the island of Sumbawa with their interesting rock formations, white beaches and great island views. You are warmly invited to spend some time here, swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing and relaxing and letting the enchanting island scenery inspire your thoughts. You have time :-)
• You will have lunch (not included) in one of the numerous local restaurants along the way.
• In the late afternoon you will go to the next stop on your journey, to the 'village above the clouds', which is also one of Sumbawa's traditional villages and is located 900 m above sea level. Now you probably need a jacket too.
• Here you will have a really very local experience, because you will be staying in a family's house and therefore have the opportunity to enter into direct exchange and in this way experience the local culture up close. Your tour guide will assist you as a translator.
• Dinner, a traditional local dish consisting of various meat and vegetable elements, is served in the family home.
• Afterwards, you are warmly invited to sit together with your hosts and exchange ideas about the local culture, cuisine and customs.
• Overnight stay with host family.

Day 7: Return journey/ connecting programme

• Today it's once again 'getting up BEFORE getting up time' ;-)
• At 5:00 am your tour guide will meet you and accompany you to the viewpoint, which is located near the village and from which you have the opportunity to experience a wonderful sunrise against a picturesque island backdrop. Depending on the prevailing weather conditions, you have a view over the rugged landscape of Sumbawa in the east, the sea with the small harbor and the offshore islands in the north and the waterway between Sumbawa and Lombok in the west. You can even admire Lombok's volcanic mountain Mt. Rinjani from a distance from here. Don't forget to bring your jacket; its fresh!
• While you calmly observe the radiant facets of the sunrise, you will be treated to hot coffee, tea and chocolate as well as small snacks.
• At around 8 am, you go back to your host family, where a delicious local breakfast awaits you.
• Now it's time to set off and continue exploring again. After a bit of driving, a moderate trekking will take you to two impressive waterfalls, which provide a wonderful photo opportunity and in which you can - if you wish - take a cooling bath.
• You will have lunch (not included) on the way in a warung or simple local restaurant before returning to Sumbawa Besar or Poto Tano with an overnight stay for your return flight or return journey by speedboat tomorrow or to the hotel of your connecting program.
• Dinner (not included) at the hotel and overnight stay there.
   

Day 8: Return journey/ connecting programme

• After breakfast, your guide will accompany you to Sembawa Besar Airport or the island port of Poto Tano, from where you will begin your return journey and your connecting program for the next discovery tour will begin. Or your tour guide will accompany you to your beach hotel, where your beach holiday begins.
