Location and Facilities:
Agusta Island is approximately 500 meters long and 300 meters wide – a pristine private island that is home to Agusta Eco Resort, a tranquil retreat far removed from the bustle of the modern world. The resort combines Western comfort with traditional Indonesian architecture in beautifully designed beachfront cottages built directly on white coral sand. What truly makes this place special is that there is only one single resort on the entire island, surrounded by untouched nature and an extraordinary house reef right in front of the bungalow doors—a playground for countless colorful marine creatures. Behind the resort stretches dense tropical jungle, home to endemic bird species and adding to the authentic island atmosphere. Agusta Island can be completely explored on foot in about 40 minutes. Thanks to the resort’s strategic location in the center of Raja Ampat, the region’s best dive and snorkeling sites can be reached quickly and easily.

The entire resort is powered exclusively by solar energy. Waste is carefully separated, organic materials are composted, and recyclable materials are transported to Sorong. The Italian owners are deeply committed to preserving Raja Ampat’s pristine natural environment. The resort accommodates a maximum of 30 guests, spread across 16 cottages in three different categories. All cottages are ocean-facing and located directly on the beach, just a few steps from the water.

The premium option consists of the 5 Deluxe Cottages (60 m²), built from fine tropical hardwoods and featuring large windows that allow natural light and sea views from every angle. These cottages are equipped with a large double bed or two single beds with mosquito nets and include air conditioning and a ceiling fan, minibar and in-room safe, 24-hour electricity, a large photographer’s desk with multiple power outlets and LED lighting, hand-carved Balinese furniture with local Papuan decorative elements, as well as a spacious private terrace with direct sea views.

The bathroom is divided into two areas for added comfort: one area features a large mirror, double lava-stone washbasin, and toilet, while the second semi-open area with a coral-stone floor includes a hot/cold water shower. A hairdryer is also provided.

Family option: One Deluxe Cottage includes an additional bedroom with two single beds and can accommodate up to four guests. These cottages also offer complimentary Wi-Fi.

The additional 5 Superior Cottages (46 m²) offer similar comfort and amenities to the Deluxe Cottages but are smaller and more compact. They are equipped with a large double bed or two single beds with mosquito nets, air conditioning and a ceiling fan, minibar and safe, 24-hour electricity, a photographer’s desk with power outlets and LED lighting, hand-carved Balinese furniture, a spacious bathroom with lava-stone washbasin, hot and cold water shower, hairdryer, and a private terrace.

Family option: One Superior Cottage includes an additional room and can accommodate up to four guests.

The remaining 6 Raja Cottages (22 m²) are built in traditional Papuan style using natural wood and palm leaves, offering a more authentic and simple experience while still providing comfort. These cottages are equipped with two separate beds (which can be joined if desired) with mosquito nets, a ceiling fan (no air conditioning – natural ventilation), a private bathroom with shower (ambient temperature water), and a private terrace with sea views. The Raja Cottages offer a more rustic, traditional experience. Extra beds cannot be added to these cottages.

Restaurant:
The open-air beachfront restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere with spectacular sea views. In addition to traditional local Indonesian favorites, the Italian owners also bring authentic Mediterranean cuisine to Raja Ampat. Local ingredients and fresh seafood are used throughout. Three full meals are served daily.

In addition to the restaurant, the spacious lounge area provides comfortable seating where cocktails and aperitifs can be enjoyed in the evening. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available here. Agusta Eco Resort also features a spa, where tired muscles can relax after a day of diving or trekking. A freshwater swimming pool overlooking the beach, surrounded by a large terrace with sun loungers, offers the perfect place to cool off between dives, practice diving skills, or simply unwind. The pool is ideal for PADI training exercises and introductory dive sessions, providing a controlled environment before heading into open water.

Diving:

Located at the Agusta jetty, the professional dive center offers everything needed for world-class diving in Raja Ampat. Approximately 80 dive sites are accessible from Agusta, ranging from calm, sheltered reefs ideal for beginners to current-swept channels where pelagic species gather. Two fast dive boats are available: one with a capacity of 10 guests and another with a capacity of 16 guests. The larger boat is also equipped with an onboard toilet. Both boats carry emergency oxygen and comprehensive first-aid equipment.

Dive trips typically take place 2–4 times daily as organized boat dives (two in the morning, one in the afternoon, and optionally a night dive). To ensure optimal personal care and safety, a 5:1 guest-to-guide ratio is maintained. Each dive site visit begins with a detailed briefing covering conditions and local marine life. During surface intervals, towels, drinking water, tea, coffee, snacks, and fruit are provided. For those who still want more, the stunning house reef offers unlimited diving and snorkeling. Equipment can be stored in a spacious storage and drying area, and freshwater rinse tanks and outdoor showers are available.

For those who do not yet dive but would like to start, or for divers wishing to expand their experience, Agusta Eco Resort offers a wide range of PADI courses, from Discover Scuba Diving and Open Water Diver certification to Advanced Open Water, Emergency First Response (EFR), Rescue Diver, and Divemaster. Specialty courses such as Deep Diver, Nitrox, and underwater photography/video are also available.

Raja Ampat has the highest concentration of marine species on our planet. Even during a single dive, an incredible variety of marine life can be encountered—from pygmy seahorses smaller than a fingernail to graceful manta rays with wingspans of up to four meters, as well as reef sharks and swirling schools of barracuda—all set against the backdrop of pristine coral gardens. The corals here are in exceptional condition, displaying vivid colors and an extraordinary diversity of forms. Raja Ampat’s reefs remain largely untouched, protected by their remoteness and ongoing local conservation efforts. Divers and snorkelers enjoy ideal conditions year-round, with water temperatures of 28–30°C and consistently excellent visibility exceeding 25 meters.

Speaking of mantas: the world-renowned dive site Manta Sandy is located just a 15-minute boat ride from Agusta Eco Resort. These elegant giants visit the site to be cleaned by small reef fish. The gentle conditions also make it suitable for snorkelers, who can observe the action from the surface. The best time to visit is from November to March, when plankton concentrations are at their highest.
