Tour Plan

Day 1: From Ternate to Morotai

  • Upon arrival at Sultan Babullah Airport in Ternate, your personal tour guide will greet you with a warm 'Welcome'. From here we continue to the island of Morotai. Since the flight connection from Ternate to Morotai is unstable and flights are repeatedly canceled at short notice, our tour takes you over two waterways and one land route, where you will already find numerous photo opportunities and a lot of local flair as 'take away'.
  • Dinner can be taken at the hotel (not included). Since you will start directly after your arrival in Ternate, you will reach your resort hotel on Morotai only slightly later than you would by flight.
  • Very simple lunch in a local restaurant on the way (included).
  • Arrived in Morotai in the afternoon, you can use the rest of the day at your resort to relax after your long journey.
  • Dinner at the resort hotel (included).

Day 2: Morotai Island Hopping

  • After a relaxed breakfast in your resort hotel (included), you will start your island hopping and visit some small islands in the south of Morotai with your guide You to a small island steeped in history called Zumzum, on which world history was written in WWII, because none other than General McArthur set up his private camp here during his West Pacific mission and chose the small island as a place of dispersal. A statue with his image reminds us of this time.
  • After that, you'll get a glimpse of island life for the residents of the small islands of Kokoya and Koloray, either by exploring the small islands on foot or simply soaking up the island atmosphere from a secluded spot on the beach can take effect.
  • We then continue to the island of Dodola, which consists of either just one or two islands, depending on the tide. The uninhabited island has a very beautiful, long sandy beach and, in addition to a wonderful view of the surrounding island landscape, also offers enough space for above- and underwater activities. Here you will have your lunch and can spend the rest of the day snorkeling and relaxing before it goes back to your resort in the afternoon.
  • Lunch / packed lunch (included)
  • Dinner in the resort (included)

Day 3: Morotai's original East

  • After a good breakfast in the resort (included), you will explore East Morotai with your guide today.
  • After a short (cross) drive from your resort, you will first make a stop at the Trikora Monument, which serves as a symbol stands for the connection of West Papua to Indonesia and thus takes account of an important historical event. Then it goes straight on to 'Air Kaca', actually an underground river, which appears as a crystal-clear spring at its open point and - by the way - was used by Gernal McArthur and his team as a washing place and refreshment source during the stationing on Morotai was.
  • You will then visit the island's capital local market, where you can get both an impression and a taste of the exotic range of spices and fruits. Then head north-east...
  • ...to a secluded cove with a white sand beach. Enjoy the atmosphere of this small secluded paradise, take a cooling dip in the rushing waves or take a walk along the secluded beach - it's up to you.
  • The next stop will take you to a small island. Here you will have your lunch (packed lunch) and can spend the afternoon...swimming, snorkeling, just relaxing and letting the scenery work its magic on you - pure relaxation.
  • Now it's time to leave. On the way back you will get to know another small bay to round off your Morotai beach and island feeling experience before heading to a local fish market where you can watch the small wooden fishing boats - fully loaded with their daily catch of various types of perch and tuna - are gradually unloaded and their maritime cargo is sold directly on site.
  • You reach your resort in the evening full of the impressions of the day.
  • Lunch/packed lunch (included)
  • Dinner at the resort (included)

Day 4: Morotai's 'Wild West'

  • Today you have the opportunity to get to know the 'wild west' of Morotais, a region of untouched nature and practically undeveloped for tourism. The highlight of today's tour are three impressive waterfalls, which show off their full power, especially after a rainy day.
  • After breakfast we set off with your tour guide and by car on the sometimes quite impassable roads of the west Part of the island.
  • The way is a bit far with the goal. You drive along fields, palm groves and through villages, partly on narrow and unpaved roads. After about 2 hours of driving you will reach the first waterfall, the smallest of the three, and your driver will stop there near a small village.
  • You can now take a first cooling bath here, because the waterfall has a naturally formed pool about 2 m deep, which is great for swimming. Our recommendation, however, would be to first hike up the somewhat sweat-inducing approx. 2.5 km and meet exotic birds on the right and left of the path on the edge of the rainforest. Your effort is finally rewarded with the sight of an impressive waterfall that falls about 80 meters in front of you. This also has a naturally formed pool that invites you to swim.
  • In front of this breathtaking waterfall and rainforest backdrop, filled with the voices of exotic birds, you will have your lunch (packed lunch) here and have a very special time To let the atmosphere of this place affect you. Enjoy.
  • Following this, and sort of on the way to the third waterfall, you will make a brief stop at the statue of Teruo Nakamura. The legendary Japanese soldier was found in the jungles of Morotai 29 years after WWII and had to be convinced that the war was long over.
  • Finally you get to the third and last waterfall of today's tour. A short walk from your vehicle's stop and you're there. Less high, but no less impressive: with a loud roar and enormous hydropower, the natural spectacle presents itself before your eyes. From where you are, you are at eye level with the masses of water and can follow them plunging into the depths and becoming one with the river that absorbs them.
  • The last stop on your journey today takes you to a small, privately run museum that pays careful attention to Morotai's WWII history. On the trail of his grandfather's past, so to speak, the owner collected all relics of the war in his area and is now bringing them to the interested visitor in the form of a living collection.
  • Now it's time to return to the resort and close the day decide.
  • Breakfast, lunch (packed lunch).
  • Dinner at the resort (included).

Day 5: Morotai - Ternate

  • Today is time to say goodbye. Today is dedicated to your return journey.
  • After breakfast (included), your guide will accompany you back to Ternates. First you go by speedboat to Halmahera, from there by car and at the next port by speedboat to the volcanic island of Ternate.
  • In the afternoon you reach your destination and check in at your hotel.
  • Lunch below ground (included).
  • Dinner in the round trip hotel (included).

Day 6: Ternate - End of / continued journey

  • After breakfast, your guide will accompany you to the airport or one of Ternate's ports, from where you can start your journey home or your follow-up program for your next wanderlust adventure. Whatever your choice is: ENJOY :-)
